This novel definitely has a ripped from the headlines feel. Lizzie Pepper is a young actress who is beginning to feel the early rush of fame and success. She is asked to read for a part in the new Rob Mars movie and instead earns the role of lifetime...as Rob Mars new wife. This of course mirrors the relationship of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, including strange courtship gestures and cult-like religions. Rob Mars is a compelling figure and was oddly well-formed in print even if he remained an enigma to his wife. I thought that Lizzie Pepper was not as well developed and I never felt as if she demonstrated the characteristics she was said to have. Really, this was just an entertaining and juicy story that was easy to become absorbed in. I received an electronic galley of this book from Penguin's First to Read Program in exchange for an honest review.
